A great friend brought it to my attention that we have just hit our three month mark here in Japan. I would have never noticed with all that has been going on lately. Now that I think about it, it seems more like we've been here a year already with all that we've accomplished but putting it into perspective that we are 1/12 of the way through our time here does make it sound like just a blink of an eye!
Three months ago we were sitting in the San Diego airport frustrated that our first flight of the day was already delayed due to fog. We were probably waiting in line with the hundreds of other passengers that were trying to reroute their flights. Only to find out that we would most definitely miss our connecting flight in San Fransisco and who knows where Zoe would end up during all of the chaos...would she even be on the same flight with us to Japan? Well we all know now that everything worked out perfectly. We kept calm and rolled with the punches throughout the entire day, mainly because we were beyond excited that we were moving to a foreign country...how many people can say they've done that in their lifetime?
28 hours later, our plane touched down in Japan. From there, it was another five hours until we cleared customs, went through the quarantine line, got our luggage, processed Zoe and picked her up and drove to what would be our temporary home for the next month or so. I remember walking off of the plane and into the main terminal. Everything was unfamiliar...the people, the smell, the language, the signs, the cars...you name it, we were immediately thrown into some serious culture shock. Fast forward to today, we are still learning something new everyday but have grown comfortable in a new culture. Today we do things without thinking twice about them because they are our new "normal". It will be strange to see where we are in another three months from now...
