San Diego Safari Park

Tim and I finally had a weekend day off together so on Saturday we headed an hour north to Escondido and visited the San Diego Safari Park (previously known as the San Diego Wild Animal Park). This is a sister park to the San Diego Zoo however it's a completely atmosphere. Here, the animals roam freely, no cages here! The park features animals from Africa and Asia, some of our favorites...elephants, gorillas and giraffes, just to name a few! The park has also added new excursions to the park such as segways, private "behind the scenes" tours, Roar n' Snore campground (where you sleep out in the wild with the animals) and the one that Tim and I chose to do was Flightline. Flightline starts out with a brief instruction on how to zipline, a training line (for those who have never done it before), a 15 minute guided tour up a 900 ft. mountain and finally you walk up a 60 ft. tower to a metal platform ready for the final line down the mountain. The main line gives you a beautiful panoramic view of the San Pasqual Mountain valley and it takes 2-3 minutes at 40 miles an hour to reach the bottom, all while zipping past the animals below you! Overall, it was a fun day Tim and I spent together and we can't wait to visit again!

Gorillas! There was a baby gorilla, just a week old but the momma gorilla hid her in the cave most of the day.
